About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to join our team! In this role, you will manage a team of individual contributors supporting significantly diverse and complex functional areas related to financial accounting. You will be responsible for managing accounting activities for one or more groups within a line of business, ensuring the completion of complex accounting tasks pertaining to accounts, statements, systems, and records. You will set standards for monitoring the data provided and for the preparation and review of financial statements and other documentation. Additionally, you will create and implement controls to ensure the accuracy of data and maintain advanced knowledge of current accounting practices and regulatory requirements. As a Financial Accounting Manager, you will enforce adherence to internal and external accounting principles and policies, develop methodologies, and implement changes for internal accounting systems. You will plan, design, and direct the production of financial and regulatory reports, manage responses and resolutions to audit inquiries, and provide technical interpretation on various matters. You will also be a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional area, leading the implementation of complex projects or initiatives impacting one or more lines of business. Your role will require you to understand and ensure compliance and risk management requirements are met, working with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives. You will provide strategic consultation to more experienced leadership and interact with external agencies, regulatory bodies, or industry forums. Additionally, you will manage a team of individual contributors, cross-functional or virtual teams, and oversee the allocation of people and financial resources for Enterprise Finance. Mentoring and guiding the talent development of direct reports and assisting in hiring talent will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of individual contributors supporting diverse and complex functional areas related to financial accounting.
  • Manage accounting activities for one or more groups within a line of business.
  • Direct completion of complex accounting tasks pertaining to accounts, statements, systems, and records.
  • Set standards for monitoring data and preparation and review of financial statements and documentation.
  • Create and implement controls to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of current accounting practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce adherence to internal and external accounting principles and policies.
  • Develop methodologies and implement changes for internal accounting systems.
  • Plan, design, and direct the production of financial and regulatory reports.
  • Manage response and resolution to audit inquiries.
  • Provide technical interpretation on various matters and lead best practices within the functional area.
  • Lead implementation of complex projects or initiatives impacting one or more lines of business.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of public accounting experience.
  • 4+ years of CPG and tech accounting experience.
  • Experience reviewing contracts.
  • Regulatory reporting experience, specifically 10K, 10Q and TIC reports.
  • Proficient in Axiom and/or Alteryx.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
