About the position

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Finance & Accounting Manager for an opportunity in Minneapolis, MN. This position is designed for a professional who can provide strategic leadership and business partnership across the order-to-cash process, particularly focusing on revenue recognition and trade activities within the Pet Segment. The ideal candidate will build functional excellence in accounting capabilities across sales and commercial functions, ensuring a balance between GAO strategy and business needs. This role requires collaboration with other functions based on agreed project plans, including e-commerce strategy and trade planning initiatives. The Finance & Accounting Manager will also be responsible for maintaining and overseeing all accounting procedures, controls, and processes. This includes ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and current financial legislation for financial results and financial statement preparation. The successful candidate will ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, and will be responsible for the timely reporting of all monthly financial information. Participation in the GAO Commercial Accounting & Control Global Community of Practice is also expected, along with effective communication with internal and external auditors. This position is a full-time contract role, expected to last for more than six months, with a pay range of $40 to $50 per hour, depending on experience and job responsibilities. The anticipated start date is September 13, 2024, although this is subject to change. BCforward will provide official notice ahead of a confirmed start date. The role is remote, requiring a commitment of at least 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive accounting expertise and business partnership across the order-to-cash process.
  • Build functional excellence in accounting capability across the sales and commercial functions.
  • Partner to provide support to other functions based on agreed project plans.
  • Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures, controls, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and current financial legislation for financial results and financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Participate in the GAO Commercial Accounting & Control Global Community of Practice.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with SEC and US GAAP requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external auditors.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting and controls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Results-oriented, proactive, agile
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization and build trusting relationships
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across the organization
  • High level of efficiency and accuracy
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Strong ERP knowledge
