About the position

The Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager at Federal Health Products and Services (FHPS), a member of Elevance Health, Inc., plays a crucial role in enhancing access to care and delivering value to customers. This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing for both remote and office work, and is ideally suited for candidates residing within 50 miles of an Elevance Health PulsePoint location. The manager will lead month-close functions and project teams, ensuring that all financial reporting and accounting processes are executed efficiently and accurately. In this role, the manager is responsible for overseeing all month-close functions, which includes reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and related financial reporting. The position may involve leading teams of associates, where the manager will review and approve complex accounting and financial analyses based on trends, plans, and forecasts. Additionally, the manager will lead various committees or work groups to develop, implement, modify, and document new or revised accounting processes, procedures, systems, and tracking mechanisms. A critical aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. The manager will tackle extremely complex problems and issues, requiring a thorough analysis of situations or data, innovative solutions, and effective collaborative leadership. Furthermore, the manager will mentor, train, and coach lower-level accountants, fostering their professional development and ensuring a high standard of work within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all month-close functions, including reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and related reporting.
  • May lead teams of associates and review complex accounting and financial analysis based on trends, plans, and forecasts.
  • Lead various committees or work groups to develop, implement, modify, and document new or revised accounting processes, procedures, systems, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Work on complex problems/issues requiring evaluation of intangible factors and innovative solutions.
  • Mentor, train, and coach lower-level accountants.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in general accounting, finance, or budgeting and planning, or equivalent education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role within a large corporate organization.
  • Experience providing coaching and feedback on work deliverables.
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Previous work experience with month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and federal government contracting accounting principles.
