About the position

The Financial Aid Programs Manager at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is responsible for managing the development, promotion, and implementation of systemwide financial wellness programming. This role ensures that resources are effectively utilized across the 23 universities and the Chancellor's Office, while also developing training for financial aid offices and managing web content. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders and representation of the CSU on statewide committees.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop and implement financial wellness programming for CSU students.
  • Create presentations on financial topics, student loans, and budgeting for students and alumni.
  • Develop marketing and web materials related to budgeting and financial wellness.
  • Provide workshops on loan repayment options.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with organizations providing financial wellness programming.
  • Collaborate with student affairs areas on financial wellness and budgeting initiatives.
  • Promote CSU affordability to target audiences.
  • Manage and maintain internal web content for the Chancellor's Office and the 23 universities.
  • Develop marketing materials for the Financial Aid unit in collaboration with Marketing Communications.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of chat bot content related to financial aid.
  • Review CSU campus websites for compliance with federal Title IV requirements.
  • Develop and maintain training programs for university financial aid staff.
  • Collaborate to create and maintain financial aid training modules.
  • Present financial wellness trainings for CSU campuses.
  • Participate in regular and ad-hoc meetings and provide general assistance with office projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related area.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience related to the administration of student financial aid programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information in written or presentation form.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a variety of policies and procedures related to financial aid data.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans and curricula.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills for work and projects.
  • Skilled in working independently and exercising good judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for collaboration across functional groups.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and explain legislation and policies.
  • Experience with various constituent groups in developing applications or programs.
  • Strong knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office and online content editors.
