About The Position

The Financial Aid Specialist at the University of Oklahoma plays a crucial role in simplifying the financial aid process for students, ensuring they are informed and engaged throughout their educational journey. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 24 months of financial aid general office, clerical, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of financial aid regulations and processes.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Patience and professionalism in handling issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Student Financial Center.
  • Knowledge of higher education.
  • Familiarity with federal financial aid policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Update system checklists to reflect receipt of documents.
  • Update forms for use on websites and office e-files.
  • Communicate with students concerning additional documentation needed for financial aid processing.
  • Review financial aid emails and respond to inquiries.
  • Send out global email messages to students regarding various issues at the Director's request.
  • Initiate the verification process and review documentation submitted by students.
  • Notify counselors of awards so student records can be updated.
  • Verify students' enrollment and accuracy of awards.
  • Serve as the initial contact for students and parents, providing answers to basic application and processing questions.
  • Provide general office and administrative support, including data maintenance and correspondence.
