About the position

The Financial Aid Specialist for the Wharton MBA Program at the University of Pennsylvania plays a crucial role in coordinating financial resources and support for MBA and EMBA students. This position focuses on enhancing the financial experience of students by providing loan resources, monitoring financial reports, and communicating effectively with students regarding their financial aid options. The specialist will also engage in data analysis to improve processes and ensure excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Student Financial Services, Loan Office, third-party billing, and Registrar to support Wharton MBA and EMBA students' financial experiences.
  • Provide financial aid counseling and assist students with financial planning and loan eligibility.
  • Deliver financial aid presentations to prospective and admitted applicants during admissions cycles and Wharton Welcome Weekends.
  • Monitor monthly reports related to loans, billing, and additional programming for students.
  • Communicate strategic resources and updates to students based on feedback and changes in the lending landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in financial aid or related field; 5 to 7 years preferred.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze data and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Exemplary customer service, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Banner Financial Aid module is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in student financial aid is preferred.
