About the position

The Financial Analyst 2 - Cost Accounting at The Wine Group is responsible for interpreting and analyzing the valuation of inventories produced or acquired throughout the company's facilities. This role involves performing account reconciliations, analyzing inventory flows, and compiling standard cost variances. The analyst will also identify and lead the implementation of system and process improvements, ensuring accurate accounting practices and supporting the financial audit process.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile bulk perpetual inventory to the general ledger.
  • Process monthly bulk inventory accounting transactions (Blend Accounting).
  • Act as the primary contact for troubleshooting and resolving issues with inventories produced or acquired throughout The Wine Group (TWG).
  • Perform bulk wine inventory cost corrections as needed.
  • Track, report, and resolve variances related to production of wine.
  • Assist in preparation of costing for wines, including conversion from grape and outside bulk purchases to annual vintage cost standards.
  • Prepare workpapers related to the inventory segment of the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain select overhead rate tables within TWG's ERP system.
  • Ensure blend accounting automatic accounting instructions (AAI's) are consistent with the company's cost accounting methodology.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the company's inventory chart of accounts.
  • Perform account reconciliations in the inventory range of accounts.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a manufacturing accounting role.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to inventories and accounting transactions.
  • High aptitude for analysis and account reconciliation.
  • Computer skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working in costed ERP system and general ledger accounting is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in cost accounting within the wine or beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
