About the position

The Financial Analyst 2 position at Metra involves conducting financial analyses and operating reviews of the organization's operations. This role is crucial for providing accurate financial information to ensure efficient business operations. The Financial Analyst will work within the Financial Affairs department, which is led by the Chief Financial Officer and consists of four groups focused on various financial functions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct financial analyses and operating reviews of Metra's operations.
• Analyze operations governed by purchase of service agreements and joint facility agreements.
• Evaluate passenger ridership and fares, utilities, fuel, and other activities requiring detailed financial analysis.
• Generate concise conclusions from independent, in-depth analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent curriculum required.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible financial analysis, accounting, reporting, or budget experience.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles/concepts, and financial modeling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and financial modeling.
• Experience with ERP financial systems, preferably MS Dynamics.
• Excellent oral/written communication, presentation, and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
• Access skills are a plus.
