About the position

The Financial Analyst 4 position at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a critical role that provides high-level fiscal, analytical, administrative, and policy/procedure support to the Statewide Programs and Research (SWPR) Unit. Reporting directly to the Director and Associate Director, the analyst will be responsible for managing both short and long-term budget planning, rate generation, and financial oversight for various statewide initiatives and programs. This includes working closely with Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, Directors, and Academics to ensure effective financial management and reporting. In this role, the Financial Analyst will administer post-award administration and research project management, developing procedures and managing complex budget and financial reporting. The position requires high-level analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities to support ANR Leadership in navigating base and current year budget allocations and addressing fiscal matters of significant complexity. The analyst will also be involved in the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. This is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed and will last for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension. The position is primarily based at 2801 2nd Street in Davis, CA, but offers hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants residing in California. It is important to note that these arrangements are subject to change by the University. The pay scale for this position ranges from $87,300.00 to $125,300.00 per year, reflecting the level of expertise and responsibility required for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level fiscal, analytical, administrative, and policy/procedure support to the SWPR Unit and leadership.
  • Independently manage short and long-term budget planning and financial oversight for statewide initiatives and programs.
  • Administer post-award administration and research project management.
  • Develop procedures for complex budget and financial management and reporting.
  • Perform high-level analytical and problem-solving support related to budget allocations and fiscal matters.
  • Collaborate with various leadership roles to ensure effective financial management and compliance with policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in budget planning and financial management, preferably in a higher education or research environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel.
