About the position

The Financial Analyst 4 - Supervisor position at the University of California is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Department of Internal Medicine. This role involves direct supervision of four Financial Analyst III positions, ensuring accurate financial management and compliance with university policies. The supervisor will play a key role in developing and implementing the annual operating budget for a complex department with significant funding, while also providing analytical support and maintaining extensive financial documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise four Financial Analyst III positions, including reviewing and approving their work.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines for both the supervisor and direct reports.
  • Maintain extensive financial files and documentation for transactions by project and faculty.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the annual operating budget for the department.
  • Gather and analyze financial data from various revenue and expense streams to prepare a comprehensive budget.
  • Provide backup support for the Department's Financial Report and fiscal management of the 340B HTC Program.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing operating funds or extramural portfolio management.
  • Strong financial and business management skills with experience in budgetary and financial analyses.
  • Knowledge of financial policies, systems, budgetary cycles, and complex administrative systems.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and fund accounting.
  • Experience with financial information systems such as Aggie Enterprise, UC Path, and Tableau.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of higher education research and fund accounting.
