About the position

The Financial Analyst 9-P11 (Trainee) position is responsible for reviewing tax payments related to Michigan Unemployment Insurance Accounts, ensuring compliance, and making recommendations for credit write-offs. The role involves coordinating tax rate testing, validating wage proofs, and analyzing uncollectible debts. Additionally, the analyst will provide technical assistance regarding laws and policies to various stakeholders and will support claims related to bankruptcy and other financial adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Review tax payments from employers regarding Michigan Unemployment Insurance Accounts.
  • Coordinate tax rate testing and report results to the Compliance Section.
  • Address positive reserve balances and validate proof of wages.
  • Review uncollectible debts for potential write-offs.
  • Provide professional assistance interpreting laws and policies to employers and agency staff.
  • Research and analyze employer compliance with tax reporting requirements.
  • Assist with proof of claims for bankruptcy and other financial matters.
  • Analyze findings and determine the impact of financial adjustments on employer accounts.
  • Review appeal packages and legal documents to assess their impact on agency rules and regulations.
  • Review administrative decisions and rulings for accuracy and precedent.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester credits in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • For Financial Analyst 10: One year of professional experience in financial analysis.
  • For Financial Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience in financial analysis, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.

Nice-to-haves
