About the position

At Northrop Grumman, we are seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Financial Analyst to join our Benefits Reporting Team in Falls Church, Virginia. This role is pivotal in leading the financial reporting process for the company's benefit plans, which includes the preparation of Northrop Grumman's 11-K savings plan filings for submission to the SEC, as well as various pension and health and welfare plan filings with the Department of Labor (DOL). The successful candidate will work directly with and report to the corporate manager of Benefits Reporting, collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. The Benefits Reporting group is responsible for preparing financial statements for various savings, pension, and health and welfare plans. This includes performing analytical reviews of benefit plan financial statements, compiling data to support the preparation of Form 5500s, and providing audit support. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. We are looking for a proactive individual who can identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiencies in financial reporting. Key responsibilities include preparing trial balances and footnote support, reconciling general ledger data to trust reports, and supporting trust budget preparation and analysis. The position also involves completing ad hoc projects or data requests as needed. Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for various Savings, Pension, and Health and Welfare plans
  • Prepare trial balances and footnote support
  • Perform analytical reviews of benefit plan's financial statements
  • Compile data to support the preparation of the Form 5500s
  • Provide audit support and fulfill audit requests
  • Participate in internal and external kick-off meetings and status meetings
  • Reconcile general ledger data to trust reports to help maintain the validity, completeness, and accuracy of the data
  • Provide support and analysis for overhead claims submission
  • Perform trust related accounting functions as needed
  • Support trust budget preparation and perform budget analysis
  • Complete ad hoc projects or data requests

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 6 years of relevant work experience (Principal Financial Analyst)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 10 years of relevant work experience (Senior Principal Financial Analyst)
  • Master's degree or CPA may count for 2 years of experience
  • Master's degree and CPA may count for a total of 3 years of experience
  • Public accounting experience may count for up to an additional year of experience for each year of relevant experience

  • Recent public accounting firm audit experience
