The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its Clinical Research Services (CRS) team. This full-time position is responsible for performing complex accounting functions, budget management, and financial analysis within the clinical trial operations of the center. The role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both on-campus and remote work within Iowa after a training period. The majority of the work will be conducted on the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) campus. The position requires compliance with the remote work program and employee travel policy, which will be reviewed annually. The Financial Analyst will primarily focus on financial oversight and budgeting, which constitutes 60% of the role. This includes monitoring and reconciling clinical trial account expenditures, addressing inquiries regarding account usage, and providing recommendations for corrective actions. The analyst will also be responsible for opening and closing clinical trial accounts, preparing monthly statement reports, and maintaining a database to track expenses and revenues. A moderate knowledge of financial systems is essential, as the analyst will assist in developing financial proformas and auditing account statements to ensure compliance with funding guidelines. In addition to financial oversight, the role includes 10% dedicated to financial reporting, where the analyst will complete routine account reconciliations, prepare invoices for services rendered, and assist the Research Billing Compliance Office with patient expense assignments. Budget analysis and contract preparation will take up 20% of the workload, requiring consultation with stakeholders on budget submissions and amendments for clinical trials. The analyst will also serve as a liaison to various parties, including University Counsel and industry representatives, to ensure proper contract approvals and follow-ups. Leadership responsibilities will account for 5% of the role, where the analyst will participate in workgroups and committees focused on reviewing CRS administrative finances and practices. The remaining 5% of the position will involve education, training, and compliance, including participation in training opportunities related to clinical trial billing and budgeting best practices. The analyst may also contribute to the implementation of policies and provide training for staff as needed.
