About the position

The Financial Analyst for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Villanova University will support the finance team by managing daily financial activities, particularly for the science departments. This role involves tracking expenses, preparing financial documents, and providing analyses to aid in budget creation and contract management. Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily finance activities for the College finance team.
  • Provide financial support to the science departments in the college.
  • Manage and track operating and restricted expenses.
  • Prepare quarterly accounting of gift funding for CLAS departments and programs.
  • Assist in preparing financial and administrative documents for processing.
  • Support new processes related to contract management.
  • Provide various financial analyses and adhoc reports.
  • Aid in creating the annual budget for the college.
  • Perform in-depth variance analysis for science departments.
  • Monitor expenses and provide resolutions for any issues.
  • Review and approve all Concur NovaPay and NovaBuy reports for CLAS science departments.
  • Conduct strategic financial analyses and studies.
  • Maintain records for undergraduate and graduate assistant hiring and support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or related field required.
  • 2-3 years of financial analysis experience, particularly in budget development and analysis or accounting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, including pivot tables, charts, and graphs.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial, budgetary, and procurement procedures.
  • Experience in problem-solving and critical thinking in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of SCT Banner and Oracle Discoverer preferred.
