About the position

The Financial Analyst at Republic Services plays a crucial role in supporting the department through financial reporting, project management assistance, and comprehensive analysis for both internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for measuring, managing, and analyzing business metrics and initiatives, providing recommendations to enhance process effectiveness, and ensuring timely and transparent financial reporting as required by management.

Responsibilities

  • Provides financial analysis and supports ongoing operational initiatives.
  • Generates standard and ad hoc reports, applying skill and judgment to operational information.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of business metrics and data points for meaningful analysis.
  • Supports ongoing initiatives and develops metrics and tools for accountability.
  • Presents and interprets analyses related to improvement opportunities.
  • Identifies prevalent issues and root causes using data, making recommendations for resolution.
  • Coordinates with management and field divisions regarding process improvements and ad hoc analysis.
  • Translates system data into scalable solutions for internal/external customers and vendors.
  • Participates and leads team projects as needed.
  • Manages special projects requiring financial knowledge to meet objectives in terms of cost, scope, and schedule.
  • Assists in creating, documenting, optimizing, and implementing durable processes.
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of best practices and training materials for team processes.
  • Regularly interacts with field controllership and various Corporate departments to accomplish goals.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of financial analysis, accounting, or business analysis experience.
  • Experience with analyzing data from various source systems.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Oracle, Tango, Arriba, and LQ.
  • Ability to generate macros using Excel and/or SQL to streamline tasks or reporting.
  • Ability to effectively convey financial information to senior leadership for decision making.
  • Demonstrates analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to generate solutions independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities or sources of information.
  • Understanding of SOX requirements.
  • Intermediate or expert level knowledge of MS Excel.
