About the position

The Financial Analyst position is a vital role within the Department of Medicine, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is designed to provide comprehensive support and analysis for the department's day-to-day financial activities. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for interacting with various divisions within the department, as well as collaborating with senior management to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis. The role requires a proactive approach to financial management, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the department's overall financial health. In this role, the Financial Analyst will prepare and upload monthly journal entries into the accounting system, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded. Additionally, the analyst will be tasked with preparing monthly and ad hoc clinical reporting statements, which will be distributed to both the divisions and senior management. This requires a strong understanding of financial reporting standards and the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner. The Financial Analyst will also be responsible for updating the department's space database on a monthly basis, which is crucial for tracking departmental resources and expenditures. Participation in quarterly budget updates is another key responsibility, where the analyst will prepare and process budget entries, contributing to the department's financial planning and forecasting efforts. The role may also involve assisting with various projects and tasks as assigned, providing an opportunity for the analyst to engage in diverse financial activities within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and upload monthly journal entries via the accounting system
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc clinical reporting statements for distribution to the Divisions and the Department Senior Management
  • Update the Department space database on a monthly basis
  • Participate in quarterly budget updates: prepare and process budget entries
  • Assist with other projects and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and/or experience
  • Two years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
