About the position

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's finance rotation role is a 2.5-year opportunity that facilitates the transition from college to a full-time finance career at Blue Cross. In this program as a financial analyst, you will be assigned to 5 six-month assignments with the opportunity to work in multiple financial disciplines, such as accounting, finance, underwriting, and treasury. Working with multiple financial disciplines will equip you with a well-rounded experience to build foundational knowledge to be leveraged throughout your career. At the conclusion of the rotational role, analysts will transition to a position within a segment of finance where they find their passion best complements the need of the business. As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting financial information. Your duties may include variance analysis tied to business operational metrics, account reconciliation, and preparation of various financial reports and financial statements. You will also be responsible for resolving customer inquiries and problems through ad-hoc problem solving. Additionally, you will assist with the preparation of various financial information such as budgets, department performance measures, impact studies, and business cases to allow for timely, accurate, and meaningful decision support. You will assist with the preparation of various financial or regulatory reports and/or statements for management and/or parties external to BCBSM (e.g., auditors, customers, providers, BCBSA, FEP, OFIS, etc.). Your role will also involve processing financial transactions including journal entries, invoices, cost allocations, recovery cases, escheats, etc., and reconciling account activity to the general ledger. You will interface with various departments and management, respond to ad-hoc requests and inquiries, and perform other assignments, duties, or functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years' experience in related field.
