About the position

The Financial Analyst position in the FP&A group at Dow Jones focuses on financial planning and consolidation. The role involves developing, communicating, and monitoring departmental budgets while providing strategic business partner support and financial insights through reporting and forecasting. This dynamic position requires collaboration with various business partners and includes responsibilities such as month-end closing activities and improving internal processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business partners to review and prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Update and run forecast models and scenario planning.
  • Develop business case models, charts, and reporting dashboards to provide analysis and insights for senior management.
  • Handle month-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, and reclasses.
  • Leverage key systems knowledge (SAP, BPC) to create robust analytics and reporting tools.
  • Build and maintain strong business partner relationships with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and work efficiency.
  • Handle additional ad-hoc requests as deemed necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (preferred).
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Docs.
  • Planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Effective time management and attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining accounting records and preparation of financial reports.
  • Ability to recognize problems, collect data, and suggest resolutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of or experience with SAP, TM1, or related programs (a plus).
  • 0-3 years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating a complex business environment.
  • Analytical expertise to synthesize data and provide insightful narratives.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems (TM1, Alteryx) (a plus).
