About the position

The Financial Analyst position in the FP&A group at Dow Jones focuses on financial planning and reporting. The role involves developing, communicating, and monitoring departmental budgets while providing strategic business partner support. The analyst will work in a dynamic environment, supporting reporting, forecasting, and strategic projects, and will report to the Senior Manager, FP&A.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business partners to review and prepare budgets and forecasts
  • Update and run opex forecast models and scenario planning
  • Handle Month-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, and reclasses
  • Leverage key systems knowledge (SAP, BPC, TM1) to facilitate the creation of more robust analytics and reporting tools
  • Build and maintain strong business partner relationships with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, improve work efficiency and quality
  • Complete additional ad-hoc requests

Requirements

  • Strong accounting and analytical skills; Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • High degree of proficiency in PC skills including experience with financial applications and reporting tools, specifically Microsoft Excel and Google Docs
  • Planning and organizational skills including effective time management and attention to detail
  • Initiative and drive and work well under pressure including being a team player with a strong work ethic
  • Experience maintaining accounting records and preparation of financial reports
  • Ability to recognize problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions and define/suggest resolutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of business partners
  • Strong eye for detail and detail oriented work practices
  • Knowledge of or experience with SAP, TM1, or related programs a plus
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience navigating a complex and challenging business environment
  • Ability to synthesize data and provide insightful narratives
