About the position

The Financial Analyst I position at National Mortgage Insurance Corporation focuses on supporting the design and maintenance of financial and capital models, expense budgeting, forecasting, and treasury analytics. This entry-level role is crucial for financial forecasting, capital allocation, and board reporting, providing high visibility within the company and regular exposure to senior management. The analyst will collaborate with various departments to gather data and assist in the preparation of financial reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the maintenance and enhancement of driver-based financial planning and capital models under the guidance of senior analysts.
  • Integrates modeling work into operating practices of the company, working closely with peers.
  • Maintains recurring financial reports utilizing financial modeling and analytics.
  • Supports the monthly reporting process by gathering required data and collaborating with department heads.
  • Collects and analyzes financial information for presentations to board meetings, investors, and regulators.
  • Supports variance analyses within the plan-to-actuals and forecast-to-actuals processes.
  • Analyzes trends in key performance indicators and identifies business risks and opportunities.
  • Implements best practices and identifies process improvement opportunities.
  • Supports FP&A and treasury project initiatives.
  • Performs additional ad hoc responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 0-1 years of financial modeling and related experience.
  • Accounting/finance/valuation background preferred; experience reading and interpreting financial statements.
  • Experienced user in MS Excel including Excel Add-ins and proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; skilled in preparing effective summary analysis and presentations.
  • Highly self-directed and curious with an enthusiastic approach to solving complex problems.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and sound business judgment.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage financial processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial modeling and analytics.
