About the position

The Financial Analyst I/II/III/IV position at Knife River Corporation is focused on supporting the Treasury and Cash Management team in administering daily cash management activities, managing debt and equity securities, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance cash management functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the coordination and administration of daily cash activity, including obtaining daily bank balances and executing electronic payments.
  • Initiates short-term daily borrowings based on cash needs and manages repayment and investment of surplus funds.
  • Coordinates and administers revolving credit facilities, maintaining spreadsheets detailing total borrowings and reconciling all activity.
  • Distributes debt compliance information and ensures appropriate financial information is provided to financial institutions as required by debt covenants.
  • Creates and maintains short-term liquidity forecasts.
  • Develops and implements functions to mitigate banking fraud and financial risks.
  • Coordinates and maintains the corporate merchant card processing program.
  • Administers internet-based bank systems and performs periodic user access reviews.
  • Maintains relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Collaborates with team members and other departments to enhance cash management strategies.
  • Researches information and prepares financial models for presentations and reports.
  • Assists with the issuance and maintenance of debt and equity securities.
  • Coordinates activities of the stock transfer agent and administers the Direct Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Coordinates proxy solicitation with vendors and voting results reports.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications, especially spreadsheet and accounting software.
  • Effective human relations skills in dealing with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of corporate financial data.
