About the position

The Financial Analyst I position at Precision Castparts Corp. involves maintaining and developing systems to measure financial and operational performance. The role includes preparing financial analyses, forecasts, and special studies for management, focusing on profitability, capital investments, and alternative management strategies. The analyst will work closely with various functional areas within the company and report directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains systems that assist management in financial control and decision making.
  • Key member of month end close process: initiates journal entries and generates variance to forecast summaries for areas of focus.
  • Participates in special studies related to profitability, pricing, cost reduction projects, capital expenditures, cash flow, and return on investment.
  • Manages inventory and cash flow, setting and periodically changing standards and charging rates.
  • Assists in the development of short and long-range financial plans.
  • Reports on financial quarterly reviews (FQR), monthly operations review (MOR), weekly and daily P&L, and Daily Flex, interacting with operations.
  • Works with internal and external auditors for financial and SOX reviews and improvements.
  • Conducts ad-hoc reporting and analysis of operating data to support management.
  • Provides interpretation and application of accounting information and/or policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in technical accounting, budgeting, planning, and internal control.
  • Proficient computer skills including advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold organizational values of ethics and integrity.
  • Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in technical accounting.
  • Knowledge of business implications of decisions with a focus on profitability.
  • Ability to efficiently plan and organize work.
