About the position

The University of Louisville is seeking an experienced Accounting Financial Systems Analyst II to join our team. This position is based at the Belknap Campus and is a full-time role. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have at least two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have over five years of accounting experience, particularly in cross-functional responsibilities, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement. Strong Excel skills and experience with software conversion and implementation are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. The role requires a change ambassador who can embrace and drive change to improve processes and outcomes. In this position, the Accounting Financial Systems Analyst II will assist with various tasks related to the Workday Finance system, including naming conventions, building allocations, and organizing business processes to align with the Workday Finance build and its integration with Workday HCM. The analyst will help streamline and standardize processes, manage accounting cleanup activities, assist with reporting design, and support policy revisions. The role also involves evaluating financial data, performing reconciliations, and preparing financial reports for analysis to present findings to leadership and stakeholders. The successful candidate will own and manage ad hoc reporting requests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery, and will support Workday implementation and sustainment projects while validating data accuracy and integrity across financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with naming conventions for Workday Finance.
  • Work on building out allocations with direction from leads.
  • Support leads in organizing business processes to align with the build of Workday Finance and integration with Workday HCM.
  • Help streamline and standardize processes.
  • Manage accounting cleanup activities.
  • Assist with reporting design and confirmation.
  • Assist with policy revisions.
  • Provide support in completing crosswalks and various other files.
  • Attend meetings when Workstream Leads are double-booked and lead meetings when appropriate.
  • Implement accrual accounting after go-live.
  • Handle miscellaneous responsibilities post-go-live to support shifts in workload.
  • Assist with operational support at go-live and beyond to achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Evaluate financial data, perform reconciliations, and review financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports for analysis and present findings to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Own and manage ad hoc reporting requests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Support Workday implementation and sustainment projects.
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity across financial systems.
  • Act as a change ambassador, promoting and facilitating operational change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Over 5 years of accounting experience with a focus on cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including pivot tables and handling large datasets.
  • Experience with software conversion/implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience as an Accounting Analyst or similar role in a complex organizational setting.
  • Strong understanding of compliance standards and full-cycle accounting processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and handling large datasets.
