About the position

The Financial Analyst II (Budgeting) at CalOptima Health is responsible for supporting the Budget department in developing, monitoring, and analyzing the organization's administrative, medical management, and capital budgets. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate budgets that align with organizational objectives, leveraging strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of budgeting and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, focusing on customer service, consistency, dignity, and accountability.
  • Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
  • Assists with developing and preparing annual administrative, medical management, and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Works closely with department directors to gather and analyze budgetary data, providing guidance and support to ensure realistic and achievable budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Information Technology Service (ITS) department to monitor ITS budgets and Digital Transformation Strategy initiatives.
  • Monitors budget performance throughout the fiscal year, identifying variances and recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Conducts comprehensive variance analysis, explaining deviations from budgeted amounts and providing rationale for cost fluctuations.
  • Assists management with preparing comprehensive financial reports, presentations, and dashboards.
  • Researches current and emerging budget-related issues and provides guidance and support to department directors.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field required.
  • 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or budget experience required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be qualifying.
