About the position

The Financial Analyst II at Mount Sinai's Critical Care Institute is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing daily analytical activities related to fiscal and administrative functions within the department. This role provides essential administrative services and analytical support to management, ensuring effective budget monitoring and variance analysis, as well as assisting in business plan development and logistical planning for new faculty recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Monitors monthly budget, fund, and general ledgers for the department or business unit; provides variance analysis.
• Communicates with accounting staff to obtain variance explanations and ensure proper capture of revenue and expenses.
• Prepares regular reports and participates in follow-up discussions with department administrators regarding actual variances from approved budgets.
• Assists in business plan development and logistical planning for new faculty recruitment.
• Ensures that grants, clinical trials, and other revenue and expense-driven projects are properly monitored and timely reports are prepared.
• Prepares and submits purchase orders, contracts, change orders, invoices, check requests, petty cash vouchers, travel requests, and travel vouchers as necessary.
• May prepare a transmittal of instructions for checks and cash for deposit and credit to the appropriate account.
• Inputs and reviews staff payroll and record maintenance.
• Prepares accruals for monthly general ledger updates.
• Assists in monitoring payments by insurance providers to determine revenue stream.
• Performs other related duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4-5 years of experience in Finance.
