About the position

The Financial Analyst II position at University Hospitals is a staff-level role focused on supporting the financial planning and analysis needs of a large healthcare system. This role emphasizes budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring data integrity, particularly utilizing the StrataJazz platform. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with work products that are highly visible to senior leadership, making accuracy and attention to detail paramount. Strong communication skills are essential as the analyst will support various business units within the health system. The primary responsibility of the Financial Analyst II is to assist in the administration of the StrataJazz platform and aid business units in preparing their operating budgets. This includes participating in the planning of the budget cycle, training users, uploading budgets to the general ledger, and maintaining the StrataJazz One Plan Budget software. The analyst will collaborate with operational managers and finance teams to develop a comprehensive system-wide budget, ensuring that all submitted budgets are complete and adhere to established standards. Additionally, the role involves creating corporate consolidations and monthly budget spreads for the organization, transferring budget data from StrataJazz to Oracle as necessary, and compiling statistics for applicable hospitals to load into Oracle. The analyst will also be responsible for training new operational users in budget systems and methods, maintaining and validating actual monthly data from Strata Data Integration files, and generating reports. Maintaining user security within the StrataJazz operational framework and comparing actual results to budgeted figures are also key components of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed, and compliance with all policies and standards, particularly regarding the handling of Protected Health Information (PHI), is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of the StrataJazz platform and support business units in preparing operating budgets.
  • Participate in planning the budget cycle, training users, and uploading budgets to the general ledger.
  • Maintain StrataJazz One Plan Budget software and ensure submitted budgets are complete and meet standards.
  • Work with operational managers and finance teams to develop a system-wide budget.
  • Create corporate consolidation and monthly spreads of the organization's budget.
  • Transfer budget data from StrataJazz to Oracle as needed.
  • Compile statistics for applicable hospitals and load to Oracle.
  • Train new operational users in budget systems and methods.
  • Maintain and validate actual monthly data from Strata Data Integration files and StrataJazz modules.
  • Maintain StrataJazz operational user security and compare actual to budget results as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business required; MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Two plus years of accounting or finance experience required.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Notable client service, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills required.
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Budgeting/healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience with data manipulation preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to use PCs and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with StrataJazz Budget software, Strata Data Integration, and Strata Management Reporting preferred.
