About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) group. This role involves supporting the Bank's decision-making and compliance functions by providing timely and accurate financial information and projections. The position requires collaboration with various business areas to develop financial plans and ensure compliance with Federal Reserve System expectations, all while maintaining a strong work-life balance and flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Create monthly forecasts and annual budgets in collaboration with business areas.
  • Conduct variance analysis on actuals, forecasts, and budgets to communicate financial insights.
  • Input accurate FTE and non-personnel spend in financial applications aligned with business needs.
  • Serve as a financial consultant to Senior Management, providing detailed analyses for decision-making.
  • Research and compile financial data from multiple sources to produce business information.
  • Assign business line spend to appropriate activities for activity-based costing and reporting.
  • Provide guidance on position management and reconcile data for staffing requests.
  • Lead or participate in projects impacting the Bank and the Federal Reserve System.
  • Review employee activity assignments to ensure accurate salary expense allocation.
  • Perform analyses and write the Bank's budget document for the Board of Governors.
  • Prepare financial performance and ad hoc analyses to aid in decision-making.
  • Review and verify financial information for accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for business line processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field and minimum of 2 years of full-time experience required for FP&A Financial Analyst II.
  • Associate degree in finance or related field and minimum of 4 years of full-time experience required for FP&A Financial Analyst II.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field and minimum of 4 years of full-time experience required for FP&A Financial Analyst III.
  • Associate degree in finance or related field and minimum of 6 years of full-time experience required for FP&A Financial Analyst III.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and adapting to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams/Office 365 and strong Excel skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workday, Adaptive Planning, Office Connect, Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, or other reporting tools.
  • MBA or professional certifications preferred.
