About the position

The Financial Analyst II position at the University of California, Riverside involves providing professional support in financial and budget analysis, fiscal management, and administrative matters for the Art and History of Art departments or the Department of Comparative Literature & Languages and Hispanic Studies. The role includes monitoring and reconciling financial transactions, preparing complex budget reports, and ensuring compliance with internal audit requirements and university policies. This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule and requires collaboration with faculty and departmental staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare basic financial and resource reports and/or analysis for internal department constituents.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for FAO regarding the utilization of departmental resources and expenditures.
  • Under general supervision, provide analytical support for simple to moderate budget, financial or resource analysis projects.
  • Gather and analyze financial and/or resource data; prepare and summarize information and/or recommendations.
  • Apply professional concepts to perform basic financial or resource analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations.
  • Implement department budget allocations and maintain department chart of accounts, and related business processes.
  • Receive more detailed instructions for new assignments.
  • Apply financial concepts to process, review and approve financial transactions.
  • Ensure that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained and strengthened to protect University resources.
  • Attend all appropriate Users Group, department and/or College meetings to stay abreast of policy and procedure changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 2 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Some knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information, organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
