About the position

The Financial Analyst II at Nakupuna Companies plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of International Religious Freedom (J/IRF) by managing financial reports, conducting reconciliations, and assisting in budget preparation. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles to ensure compliance and effective management of foreign assistance funds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain various financial reports from the data warehouse application for ad hoc reconciliation.
  • Conduct comparative research on accounts that may be misstated.
  • Prepare for the year-end closing of multiple funding appropriations.
  • Track and reconcile payments through the Payment Management System (PMS).
  • Manage complex Excel spreadsheets and collaborate with HHS accountants to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain systems for document retrieval, including allotments, notifications, and PMS account balances.
  • Track grant awards, ensuring accurate establishment of federal awards and accounts.
  • Resolve system-related account issues and apply internal control measures to protect sensitive material.
  • Support the J/IRF budget by assisting in creating yearly program budgets and providing feedback on the 653a process.
  • Review and update new payment processing initiatives, coordinating with analysts to approve PMS disbursements.
  • Prepare and present materials for monthly and quarterly meetings, covering grant closeouts, audits, and year-end procedures.
  • Prepare presentations and conduct workshops on PMS usage, guiding grantees and analysts.
  • Track foreign assistance funds to ensure alignment between Congressional Notifications and operational plans.
  • Organize meetings, trainings, and conferences, offering technical assistance to grantees.
  • Report on program activities, analyze data for program evaluation, and assist in coordinating foreign assistance funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, or related areas.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles (GAAP), budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software, such as the Payment Management System (PMS) and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing records.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting, workshops, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and resolving account discrepancies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and security measures.
  • Knowledge about the foreign assistance life cycle.
