About the position

The Financial Analyst II is a pivotal role within the Infectious Diseases and Global Health Security (IDGHS) division, responsible for conducting advanced financial analysis and supporting strategic decision-making for various projects. This position entails leading the preparation of detailed financial reports, developing and maintaining complex financial models, and managing components of budgeting and forecasting. The Financial Analyst II plays a critical role in variance analysis, monitoring sub-recipient financial activities, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Additionally, the role involves optimizing resource allocation within projects, contributing to risk identification and mitigation, and providing insights to support decision-making processes. In this capacity, the Financial Analyst II also mentors junior analysts and contributes to the enhancement of financial systems and tools, ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations. The position coordinates financial and accounting operations, providing overall financial monitoring and support to Country Office and project staff to ensure the fiscal well-being of the projects. Responsibilities include conducting analyses of financial data, providing budget analyses for project funds, and preparing required reports to funding agencies to ensure compliance with donor requirements. The Financial Analyst II also provides analysis and business modeling support on strategic initiatives for senior management and field operations. The role requires performing complex data analysis and modeling, preparing and analyzing monthly financial reports regarding budgets versus actuals and forecasts, leading the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and developing and maintaining advanced financial models. The analyst will also lead variance analysis and provide recommendations based on findings. A thorough understanding of applicable financial and accounting statutes and regulations is essential, as is the ability to interpret and apply laws, analyze information, and evaluate the impact of policies and procedures. The Financial Analyst II will accumulate data, summarize information into presentable reports, and discern valid from invalid data comparisons. The position also involves reviewing and inputting financial data into accounting software systems, presenting analyses to senior analysts and managers, and contributing to strategic planning discussions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible financial analysis and pricing experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software is required.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills are essential.
  • Experience in a science or health-related field is preferred.
  • Non-governmental organization (NGO) experience is preferred.

  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis in a global health context.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).
