About the position

The IT Business Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the financial processes within the IT department at Presbyterian Healthcare Services. This position reports directly to the Manager of IT Finance and is responsible for a variety of financial support tasks, including monthly and annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and engaging with key IT leaders to provide training and support for their financial analysis needs. The analyst will also be involved in the improvement, sustainment, and deployment of IT financial processes, ensuring that the financial operations align with the overall goals of the organization. In this role, the IT Business Financial Analyst will manage stakeholder and customer relationships to ensure that financial information requirements are clearly understood and documented. This includes assisting service owners in conducting valuations and business impact analyses, acting as a liaison between finance/accounting and IT to support business needs, and leading the month-end process for IT, which involves providing reclass and accrual entries to the Finance Department. The analyst will facilitate the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process, providing financial direction to management regarding budget preparation and conducting formal presentations as required. The position also emphasizes performance excellence by supporting IT Financial Management metrics, goals, and objectives. The analyst will report on success towards meeting key performance indicator targets regularly and will need to have a clear understanding of the financials of large, complex IT organizations. Additionally, the role requires operational excellence, where the analyst will support timely and accurate reports on capital and operating budget variances and forecasted spending trends, maintain financial accounting data for IT assets, and oversee adherence to budget approval standards. Continuous evaluation of processes to improve overall financial reporting and analysis is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage stakeholder and customer relationships to ensure financial information requirements are understood and documented.
  • Assist service owners in valuations and business impact analyses.
  • Act as liaison between finance/accounting business and IT to support business needs.
  • Lead month end process for IT and provide reclass/accrual entries to Finance Department.
  • Facilitate quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process, providing financial direction to management regarding budget preparation and conducting formal presentations as required.
  • Run existing IT financial reports, compare budget to actual expenses, monitor costs in partnership with budget owners.
  • Help describe both cost and benefits of IT platforms and initiatives and create reports that are shared with senior staff in IT, sponsoring business units, and financial planning and analysis departments.
  • Support IT Financial Management metrics, goals, and objectives; report on success towards meeting key performance indicator targets on a regular basis.
  • Maintain the financial accounting data for IT assets, liabilities, maintenance, and subscription expenses.
  • Oversee adherence to budget approval standards and support compliance with IT service management processes, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Finance, Economics or related field.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience.
  • Strict attention to detail and intensity around consistency delivering high quality outputs in a multi-tasking environment.
  • General IT experience or background preferred.
  • Ability to deep-dive into financial data, reconcile variances and develop qualitative explanations to concisely summarize the results of financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suites: Advanced MS Excel skills and PowerPoint experience.
  • Power BI experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
