About the position

At Hackensack Meridian Health, the Financial Analyst IV plays a crucial role in financial analysis projects and statistical studies that are essential for the organization's growth and operational efficiency. This position is responsible for evaluating potential investments and acquisitions, as well as developing assigned service lines. The Financial Analyst IV will engage in all financial aspects of the assigned service lines, contributing to Hackensack Meridian Health's goal of achieving growth through applicable acquisitions and the development of relevant programs. The role involves preparing and reporting monthly financial statements, coordinating audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and maintaining the PeopleSoft general ledger. Additionally, the analyst will support outsourced accounting functions, ensuring that financial information is accurately recorded and reported. A typical day for a Financial Analyst IV includes applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to carry out core responsibilities and special projects. The analyst will compile and analyze data regarding anticipated acquisitions, conduct due diligence, and develop integrated revenue and expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations that assess the impact of acquisitions or implementations. The role also involves analyzing operational budgets for applicable service lines, assisting in business integration strategies, and coordinating with independent valuation specialists to ensure fair market value and commercial reasonableness of transactions. The Financial Analyst IV will perform budgeting and financial forecasting, analyze trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to predict future revenues and expenses. Recommendations on annual and operational budgets will be made, along with the submission of monthly reports to management. The analyst will complete ledger accounts, financial statements, and monthly variance reports while ensuring the accuracy of financial information. This position also includes reviewing intercompany transactions and accounting controls, preparing financial reports, tax returns, and survey information for various reporting purposes. Additional responsibilities may include handling projects related to physician services, compensation modeling, benchmarking, and maintaining the integrity of the benchmarking database. The analyst will also assist in business plans and feasibility studies, manage budget areas related to provider compensation, and work on special projects for senior leaders, including revenue cycle analytics and implementation issues.

Responsibilities

  • Applies GAAP in carrying out core responsibilities of all assigned duties and special projects.
  • Compiles and analyzes data regarding anticipated acquisitions, conducts due diligence, and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations regarding the impact of an acquisition or implementation.
  • Assists in business integration strategies.
  • Coordinates with outside independent valuation specialists on fair market value and commercial reasonableness of transactions.
  • Performs budgeting financial forecasting.
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses of assigned areas.
  • Makes recommendations on annual and operational budgets and submits monthly reports requested by the applicable administrators as well as management.
  • Reports the monthly financial operations of assigned areas as appropriate to management.
  • Completes ledger accounts and financial statements and monthly variance reports.
  • Performs general accounting functions and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately.
  • Reviews intercompany transactions and accounting controls to ensure proper elimination of intercompany transactions upon consolidation with HMH.
  • Prepares, compiles, and reviews financial reports, tax returns, and survey information for internal, external, governmental, and non-governmental reporting.
  • Handles projects including assigned areas of compensation modeling and benchmarking and maintains the integrity of the benchmarking database.
  • Completes detailed contract review and summaries for distribution.
  • Assists in the completion of business plans and feasibility studies as requested, including completion of profit and loss statements.
  • Responsible for specified areas of the budget related to provider compensation and position control.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of the contract database system and labor distribution report tracking and use.
  • Responsible for assigned revenue analytics, assigned areas of the revenue proof and specialty reporting including CPC+, PCMH, and other clinical programs requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Works on special projects for senior leaders as needed, which may include revenue cycle analytics and implementation/conversion issues.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting or 5 years of public accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of an integrated General Ledger System.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Must be highly computer literate, including advanced use of Excel.
  • Must be willing to roll up sleeves and establish effective working relationships with Senior Management and Staff at all levels of the organization.
