About the position

The Financial Analyst - Life Health position at General Re Corporation involves managing complex Life and Health reinsurance transactions while ensuring compliance with reinsurance agreements. This role is integral to the Operations team and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain client relationships. The position offers the flexibility of remote work based out of Stamford, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned portfolio of life insurance clients.
  • Perform premium validations.
  • Process premium payments and record monthly statistics.
  • Analyze premium fluctuations, prepare accruals, and review aged receivables.
  • Ensure treaty compliance down to the policy-level.
  • Maintain relationships with your assigned client contacts.
  • Responsible for issue resolution both internally and externally.
  • Assist claims team with premium related questions on claims within your assigned portfolio.
  • Conduct periodic client audits (both remotely and onsite).
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal process documentation and process improvement.
  • Support the financial close as requested (e.g., opening and closing financial periods, reporting, retro calculations).
  • Contribute towards requirements and testing on technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5 years of financial analyst or reporting experience required.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, formula building) required.
  • Prior experience with financial close processes preferred.
  • Experience in life and/or health insurance preferred.
  • Experience using PowerBI preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, prioritization, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients and internal colleagues.
