About the position

The Financial Analyst position at CRH's Americas Materials division is a critical role that provides essential financial insights to the Finance Team and Senior Management. This position is responsible for forecasting the company's profit and loss, as well as operational performance, which highlights the effectiveness of the company's strategic plans and investments. The analyst will manage the financial operations for the Midwest Region and report directly to the Region CFO. In this role, the Financial Analyst will perform quantitative analyses of operational and financial data using various programs, reports, and tools. They will prepare financial reports for internal use, analyze past financial information and results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations based on their findings. The analyst will also be involved in building budgets and forecasts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections. Monthly commentary on financial results will be prepared and reported to leaders, and the analyst will participate in the preparation of financial data for strategic plans. Additionally, they will conduct various ad hoc analyses for a variety of stakeholders and track infrastructure funding levels and key economic indicators. To be successful in this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, along with five years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in the construction or building materials industry is preferred. The role requires a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn additional software as needed. Candidates should demonstrate advanced financial knowledge, excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and operations leaders. The position also requires a willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist with other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative analysis of operational and financial data using various programs, reports, and tools.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal use.
  • Analyze past financial information and results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations.
  • Collect, analyze, and report financial data.
  • Participate in building budgets and forecasts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Prepare monthly commentary of financial results and reports to leaders.
  • Participate in preparation of financial data for strategic plans.
  • Perform various ad hoc analysis for a variety of individuals.
  • Track DOT/City/County infrastructure funding levels and key economic indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in the construction or building materials industry preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Extremely high level of expertise in Excel.
  • Demonstrate advanced financial knowledge as well as the ability to interpret and utilize financial and mathematical data and information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to facilitate change management and influence positive responses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, appropriate manner.
  • Ability to summarize data from different sources into a concise format that can be easily expanded and communicated to support initiatives.
