About the position

This position serves as the lead administrative analyst at each Northern Natural Gas regional location, playing a crucial role in the financial management and oversight of regional budgets. The primary responsibility includes compiling, tracking, analyzing, and auditing regional budgets and other financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards. The analyst will be expected to analyze data from various sources and locations to create statistical information that supports appropriate reporting and analysis. This involves preparing forecasts for the regional office based on data supplied by field locations, and in some cases, submitting forecasts at the company level without prior review. In addition to forecasting, the analyst will develop new and utilize complex programs to generate management reports and statistics that inform decision-making. A significant part of the role involves analyzing data to identify trends in Operations and Maintenance (O and M) and capital budgets, maintaining ongoing budget records to track the status of each operations location throughout the year. The analyst will also be responsible for developing and implementing processes necessary for conducting financial and administrative audits, ensuring that all financial practices adhere to company policies. Furthermore, the role includes auditing, analyzing, and troubleshooting issues related to expense reports and invoices. The analyst will also develop and implement training programs for field personnel on budget preparation, timekeeping, and other administrative functions. The position may require performing additional responsibilities as requested or assigned, making it essential for the analyst to be adaptable and proactive in their approach to work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Five or more years of related administrative analyst experience is preferred.
  • Three or more years of audit work experience.
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and working knowledge of Oracle financials.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
