About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Sound Transit is a term-limited opportunity focused on supporting the financial operations of the ORCA fare collection system. The role involves day-to-day operations related to revenue operations, customer refunds, accounts receivable and payable, reporting, and data analysis. The analyst will provide analytical expertise and act as a technical resource for the ORCA agencies, contributing to various projects and streamlining processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain business analysis in support of regional ORCA financial transactions.
• Respond to management and agency requests for data or data analysis available through the ORCA system.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned processes and systems.
• Perform a variety of accounting duties and responsibilities involved in financial record keeping and analysis.
• Maintain a variety of accounting records, logs, and files.
• Validate, reconcile, and adjust financial records as appropriate.
• Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as assigned.
• Provide strong customer service to internal employees/customers and outside vendors.
• Support the annual audit process and participate in cross-training activities.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience managing large data sets and performing financial analysis.
• Experience with data management and query tools such as Access or Crystal Reports.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including GAAP.

Nice-to-haves

• CPA Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft Azure, SharePoint Online, Oracle, and Integration Services.
