About the position

The Financial Analyst at Axis for Autism plays a crucial role in the preparation, coordination, review, and analysis of the company's financial activities. This part-time position involves developing forecasts, budgets, and periodic reporting to assist management in decision-making and strategic planning. The analyst will conduct financial analyses, monitor departmental budgets, and create ad-hoc reports to support business decisions and operational changes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial and planning analyses as assigned by management.
  • Design and build revenue and cost models summarizing different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Monitor, review, and report progress on departmental budgets and forecasts during the budget cycle.
  • Review departmental budget allocations and reports for completeness and accuracy, highlighting deviations from agreed targets.
  • Assist with the preparation of updated financial projections on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
  • Perform variance and historical analysis and produce trending and predictive numerical and graphical information.
  • Initiate actions to resolve any financial reporting errors.
  • Create ad-hoc reports as needed by departmental administrators and management.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze relevant data or metrics.
  • Develop and maintain reports to support plans, business decisions, operational changes, strategic plans, and new services.
  • Resolve any reporting issues.
  • Make recommendations to align policies and procedures with best practices and capitalize on financial opportunities.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or an equivalent field.
  • 2-10 years of general finance experience.
  • Proven working experience as Financial Analyst or Sr. Financial Analyst.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Expert Microsoft Office Suite knowledge, specifically with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP's, complex formulas and functions).
  • Proficient at using QuickBooks and other financial systems in day-to-day transactions.
  • Advanced communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of complex problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
  • Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
  • Must have dedicated, quiet home workspace with high-speed internet.
  • Ability to work daily while fulfilling part-time role.
  • Ability to commute to central Phoenix for in-office work and team meetings as needed.
