About the position

The Financial Analyst at Hopkins Public Schools is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and analysis. This role involves identifying and resolving financial issues, preparing reports, and providing management with summarized financial data to support decision-making. The analyst will also assist in the strategic fiscal management of the district, ensuring compliance with regulations and improving financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to financial planning and budgeting systems.
  • Assemble and summarize financial data to provide information to management.
  • Prepare reports and make presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Create financial models to evaluate information and explain results.
  • Update and revise finance and budget processes to reflect changes in requirements.
  • Conduct studies regarding financial projections and revenue sources.
  • Provide financial analyses and counsel to departments on budget issues.
  • Train staff in various budget and financial systems.
  • Assist the Director of Business Services in strategic fiscal management.
  • Develop and improve consistent procedures within the finance department.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and district policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in financial analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of financial operations systems, particularly Oracle Fusion.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain an organized structure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of specialized district and state agency accounting software applications.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary range of $79,225 - $98,364 per year.
