About the position

The Financial Analyst, Project Cost Control role at KBR involves forecasting, controlling, and reporting project costs within the organization. The position requires analyzing project expenditures, developing completion reports, and providing insights on future costs based on various factors. The analyst will work under general supervision, contributing to financial execution, program control, and compliance monitoring for government contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Forecasts, controls, and reports project costs needed within the organization.
  • Develops and provides project variances, trending, and analysis of expenditures and completion reports.
  • Reviews project costs incurred by category and calculates future costs based on various factors.
  • Performs assignments requiring experience and knowledge of standard concepts within project controls.
  • Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures while developing advanced skills.
  • Supports the program management team with budgeting and cost management efforts.
  • Analyzes and validates project costs and identifies financial risks.
  • Assists in assembling data for trending and forecasting.
  • Assists in developing project and program cash flow management.
  • Interfaces with Project Management, Procurement, Accounting, and HR departments.
  • Participates in project cost review meetings.
  • Identifies cost/schedule variance and analyzes estimate at complete.
  • Reconciles contract to baseline by element of cost.
  • Statuses schedule/milestones and facilitates estimates to complete.
  • Analyzes headcount needs, levels resources, and identifies expenditure trends.
  • Builds Work Breakdown Structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis or project cost control.
  • Knowledge of basic program management concepts (budgets, estimate to complete, project schedules, etc.).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting preferred.
  • Prior experience using Costpoint, COBRA, COGNOS systems preferred.
