About the position

The Financial Analyst - R&D Finance role at Apple involves collaborating with a world-class team to support the Engineering Finance team in driving forecasts, annual plans, and quarter-end close activities. The position focuses on providing critical financial analysis to support product development decisions and performance metrics evaluation, ultimately contributing to Apple's innovation and technology advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate FP&A activities and deliverables related to monthly forecasts, quarterly Long Range Forecasts, Annual Plans, and Quarter-End Close.
  • Support profitability and line of business views of engineering investment, creating insightful views of spend to drive business decisions.
  • Provide ad hoc financial support and collaborate with multiple teams across Apple, including Corporate FP&A, Tax, Legal, M&A, Accounting, and global subsidiaries.
  • Consolidate Headcount, OpEx, and CapEx spend by engineering organization, including variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Build and maintain financial models for forecasting purposes, understanding key drivers affecting financial processes.

Requirements

  • 2 years of finance or other relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent required
  • Strong finance and accounting background with an aptitude for understanding complex financial structures
  • Established financial experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis
  • Outstanding attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in financial analysis and reporting
  • Ability to work with a high level of ambiguity and complexity
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaboration across diverse teams
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings to key partners
  • Demonstrated ability to automate and improve processes
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities; experience in Tableau, SAP, or FileMaker is a plus
