About the position
As a Financial Analyst specializing in Revenue Recognition, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of revenue reporting within the organization. This position involves analyzing complex transactions, collaborating with various teams, and directly impacting the integrity of financial statements. You will be responsible for reviewing contracts, preparing revenue schedules, and supporting audit processes, all while contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
Responsibilities
- Review contracts and transactions to ensure compliance with revenue recognition guidelines, including ASC 606.
- Analyze and record monthly revenue entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of revenue schedules and reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including revenue calculations, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate close processes related to revenue, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly revenue reporting packages and contribute to financial reviews with actionable insights on revenue trends.
- Perform variance analysis on actual revenue vs. forecast/budget and provide explanations for significant discrepancies.
- Collaborate with finance teams to prepare and analyze financial data for internal and external reporting.
- Review sales contracts and assess revenue implications, identifying any issues related to revenue recognition.
- Provide input on contract terms from an accounting perspective to ensure alignment with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of revenue recognition policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with sales, legal, and operations teams to review and interpret contracts, ensuring alignment with revenue recognition practices.
- Partner with FP&A and other finance teams to support budget and forecast accuracy related to revenue.
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries related to revenue.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in revenue recognition workflows and contribute to implementation efforts.
- Assist in documenting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls around revenue recognition.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in revenue recognition, financial analysis, or accounting roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in financial ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ASC 606 and revenue recognition standards is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition software and tools is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and an ability to interpret complex financial data.
