About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst position at UPMC involves working within the Insurance accounting team, focusing on both GAAP and Statutory Accounting. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in various accounting functions, including internal and external reporting of financials. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for flexibility between remote and in-office work.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of a line of business/product financials and general ledger including month-end close, account reconciliations, and accounts payable for external suppliers.
• Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
• Partner with financial and operational teams for estimation of accruals and account reconciliations.
• Complete annual audit requests for financial and internal audits.
• Complete quarterly and annual statutory filings for external regulators as the owner of a regulated company.
• Complete separate audited financials for each regulated company.
• Conduct ad-hoc industry analysis including competitor comparisons, state analytics, and line of business rankings.
• Mentor Financial Analysts or administrative staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
• Minimum of three years of related work experience required, or a High School Diploma/GED with five years of related work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office spreadsheet applications required.
• PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
