About the position

Michigan Medicine is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to support the Medical School Finance team by analyzing administrative and financial data sets. The role involves collaborating with various departments to enhance operational efficiency and provide leadership support through financial analyses and presentations. The ideal candidate will work independently, manage multiple projects, and engage with Michigan Medicine leadership to address resource issues and propose solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing financial analyses, presentations, and correspondence to support performance assessments.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary teams evaluating strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the academic enterprise.
  • Facilitating exceptional customer service delivery by building relationships with departmental and leadership contacts.
  • Participating in special projects to improve reporting, analysis, and internal processes.
  • Working with complex data sets to identify key issues and decision-making criteria.
  • Analyzing data to support strategic financials and business case development.
  • Designing and recommending new methodologies and tools for data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven ability to build internal client relationships and function as a team member.
  • Experience in financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ability to adapt knowledge, learn quickly, and manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex information simply.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in an analytical role.
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, or academic medical center settings.
  • Advanced analytical, modeling, and data visualization skills.
  • Experience with Business Objects, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or Hyperion.
