About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in the administration of physician compensation functions and the annual operating and capital budget processes at USC Care MSO. This position requires a high level of problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to customer service. The Analyst will work closely with the USC Care Business Intelligence team and the Keck School of Medicine Faculty Affairs department to maintain and enhance the functionality of physician compensation systems. The role involves supporting all physician compensation calculations for USC Care faculty and community medical group members, providing essential decision support and analysis regarding the evolution of compensation models. In this advanced-level position, the Senior Financial Analyst will review and analyze complex financial information to meet varied management needs. The Analyst will compile and analyze data from multiple information systems, applying sound judgment to assess the accuracy and relevance of the conclusions drawn. Independence and effective time management are critical, as the Analyst will be responsible for managing their workload efficiently. Key responsibilities include managing physician compensation model calculations, producing payroll upload files, assisting with scenario modeling for compensation model changes, and collaborating with department managers on the annual operating budget. The Analyst will also work with various financial systems, understand variances in compensation amounts, and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Participation in committees and performing additional duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage physician compensation model calculations and produce payroll upload files.
  • Assist with scenario modeling for physician compensation model changes.
  • Collaborate with department managers and administration in the development of the annual operating budget.
  • Work with various financial systems including Kaufman Hall, Lawson, Cerner, Showcase, Kronos, and Enterprise reporting.
  • Understand and explain variances and trends in physician compensation amounts.
  • Participate in and assist various committees of the Medical Center and Finance.
  • Maintain the security of confidential information such as patient records and salary information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or an Associate's degree with 4 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • 3+ years of accounting, financial analysis, and/or decision support experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and PowerPoint, as well as database query engines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital, medical group, or similar environment.
  • Master's degree.
