About the position

This position is an exciting opportunity to provide financial and process analysis, modeling, and business analytics for construction activities, focusing primarily on customer growth and new business. The role involves gathering, interpreting, and formatting all metrics for analysis and presentations. The incumbent will provide cost and budget metrics for executive level reviews, support construction-related activities for special projects, and offer insight into department financial and operational results. The incumbent will propose new analytics and/or processes to enhance reporting, add value, and promote success. Additionally, the incumbent is accountable for awareness and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances, including GAAP and the ETG Tariff. Essential functions include compiling and interpreting financial information to report and/or forecast financial results, providing insight and ideas based on this data, and creating visual presentations (tables, charts, graphs, etc.) to clearly illustrate data. The role also requires maintaining department databases and providing data as requested, compiling and interpreting monthly financial information to evaluate performance and project financial results, and reviewing new business capital budgets monthly and re-forecasting as necessary. The incumbent will complete monthly, quarterly, and annual routine deliverables to support and report new business results, develop construction cost metrics and dashboards, monitor cost drivers, and identify areas of greatest impact. Furthermore, the incumbent will investigate data anomalies and respond to complex inquiries, fully understand department targets, and develop plans to help ensure department success. Support for special projects will involve coordinating strategic planning, developing budgets, and creating dashboards, while also acting as the point person for business case support documentation and maintaining department SOW and pricing files.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and interpret financial information to report and/or forecast financial results.
  • Provide insight and ideas based on financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience performing financial analysis, interpreting data and providing variance explanations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work across a matrix organization structure with horizontal and vertical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and moderate proficiency in other MS Office tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of gas distribution pipeline construction regulations.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate proficiency in SharePoint and PowerBI.
  • Utility construction, natural gas, or other energy industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo and Workday.
