About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst for Sponsored Projects at Moffitt Cancer Center is responsible for overseeing fiscal compliance of sponsored projects, preparing financial reports, managing invoicing and receivables, and ensuring adherence to internal controls for annual audits. This role requires a strong understanding of federal grant guidelines and effective communication with research administration to address compliance matters and provide advisory support to Principal Investigators and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides final approval for all labor cost transfers and grant expenses transfers to ensure compliance with sponsor funding policies.
  • Acts as a financial and compliance advisor to Principal Investigators and Division Administrators regarding the expenditure of federal funds.
  • Reviews and approves budget transfer requests prepared by Research Financial Analysts, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines.
  • Prepares and submits prior approval requests to Sponsors for various funding adjustments as requested by PIs and RFAs.
  • Reviews documentation related to sponsored research awards/contracts to ensure proper activity setup in Lawson.
  • Monitors subrecipient compliance for federally funded sponsored awards, ensuring proper invoicing and programmatic approval of work performed.
  • Maintains records in accordance with federal guidelines to support grant compliance requirements.
  • Assists in resolving issues related to faculty and staff effort reporting under federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for final reconciliation and processing of grant accounts prior to closeout.
  • Prepares accurate financial status reports for external agencies and final closeout documentation for authorization.
  • Participates in annual audits by providing necessary documentation to auditors and contributing to financial statement audits.
  • Develops monitoring tools to ensure compliance with high-risk areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous accounting/finance related experience.
  • CPA and/or MBA with 3 years experience in overseeing fiscal compliance with Sponsored projects or Public Accounting experience.
