About the position

The Supply Chain Finance Analyst at Smithfield Foods is responsible for analyzing financial data related to the supply chain, including transportation, warehousing, procurement, and inventory planning. This role involves preparing financial reports, determining operational costs, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations while supporting the company's financial standing through detailed analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial reports for the transportation, warehousing, or procurement divisions.
  • Determine cost of operations by establishing standard costs and collecting operational data.
  • Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plan and forecast.
  • Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
  • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and monetizing opportunities.
  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Assist in developing management reports through functional knowledge of ERP systems, including SAP BI, SAP BPC & SAP General Ledger.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and assist management in evaluating key opportunities for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • 2+ years of experience in reporting, consolidation, and financial analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior accounting/GAAP knowledge.
  • Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data analytics systems and reporting functionality is a plus.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data analytics systems and reporting functionality is a plus.
