About the position

The Financial Analyst Team Leader at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is responsible for directing the development of complex budgetary submissions and financial plans within the Nuclear Threat Reduction Program. This role involves performing budgetary analyses, managing resources, and providing expert consultation on financial and business processes. The position requires leadership in overseeing financial staff and special projects, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the organization's efforts in the development of highly complex budgetary submissions and financial plans.
  • Gather and analyze diverse and highly complex information on funding, costing, and workforce issues.
  • Review work proposals and research variances to plans and allocations; implement corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact performing self-assessments and preparing organizational responses to findings.
  • Direct and participate in highly complex analysis, modeling various scenarios to support decision making.
  • Formulate, communicate, and implement decisions within scope of designated authority.
  • Provide extensive financial and business process consultation and improvement expertise.
  • Design and develop operational metrics and implement policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Provide leadership to financial staff and lead special projects requiring unique solutions.
  • Foster effective relationships with customers, colleagues, and programmatic and financial managers.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of related experience, education, and training in the finance/accounting field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial functions including diverse funding sources and financial policies.
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining complex financial spreadsheets and databases.
  • Extensive experience applying expert analytical skills to research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present financial data.
  • Advanced decision making, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience leading a financial team including hiring, training, and performance management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance/Accounting, or Business Administration or a related field plus extensive experience.
  • Experience with LLNL financial/accounting systems and policies.
