About the position

The Financial Analyst position at the State of South Carolina Department of Insurance involves analyzing the financial condition of insurance companies to ensure their solvency and compliance with state regulations. Responsibilities

  • Obtain, review, and analyze annual and quarterly insurer financial statements and related regulatory filings.
  • Complete detailed financial analysis checklists for insurance companies in accordance with Department procedures.
  • Customize analysis procedures based on the size, risk, and complexity of the insurer.
  • Summarize and document results of analysis and communicate with insurers and regulators.
  • Research complex issues related to state law, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, insurance, risk management, or related field.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience in financial auditing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NAIC FAST tools and IRIS ratios.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations regarding insurance.
