About the position

The Financial Analyst (Trainee) position is designed to assist the Minerals Revenue Accountant in the Department of Natural Resources' State-wide Minerals Revenue Program. This role involves providing professional financial analysis and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) while supporting the accounting and reporting processes related to the Minerals Revenue Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Minerals Revenue Accountant in processing approximately $20 million in revenue annually.
  • Provide professional financial analysis and systematic review of financial data related to the Minerals Revenue Program.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Support accounting, monitoring, and reporting processes within the Minerals Management Section.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Land Ownership Tracking System (LOTS) and other DNR database systems.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • For Financial Analyst 10: One year of professional experience in financial analysis or related fields.
  • For Financial Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience in financial analysis, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health is preferred.
